On February 24, a Russian warship approached Zmeiny Island in the Black Sea and offered to surrender twice: “I am a Russian warship. I propose to lay down arms and surrender in order to avoid bloodshed and unjustified victims. Otherwise, you will be bombed." According to the BBC Russian Service, the offer was as follows: “Snake Island. I am a Russian warship. In order to avoid bloodshed, I propose to lay down our arms and surrender. Otherwise, you will be hit. How do you hear, Snake? Reception." According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the audio recording contained the following words: “You are in complete isolation, in the zone of destruction of weapons. If you resist, you will be destroyed. The chances of survival are zero. Think of your children, loved ones who need you, who love you and are waiting for you at home alive and well.”
In response, the air sounded: "Russian warship, fuck you!"
